The Philippine environment has long suffered from a state of chronic crisis. The ailments afflicting our diverse and rich ecosystems are a reflection of the deeper social and economic inequalities that plague our society and are intimately intertwined with the problems of chronic poverty, hunger, unemployment and landlessness among the people.
The Center for Environmental Concerns and Kalikasan People's Network for Environment sponsored a forum on the state of the Philippine environment: Arroyo's legacy, Aquino's burden?. Environmental groups presented their environmental demands for the Aquino administration.
