Pleasesign the online petition to ban mining in the Province of Romblon. The Provincial Government has declared a mining moratorium on 10 January 2011.Please support the people of Romblon. Targeting: Pres. Benigno Simeon 'Noynoy' Cojuangco Aquino II (Office of the President), Hon. Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona (Office of the Congressman - Romblon), Hon. Eduardo 'Lolong' Firmalo (Office of the Governor - Romblon), and Hon. Ramon J.P. Paje (DENR Secretary).

Religious leaders call for mining ban in Romblon

MANILA, Jan. 22, 2011—Local church leaders are calling for mining ban in the province of Romblon claiming that the industry destroys people’s lives and their relationship with one another, the environment and God.

Msgr. Ernie Nonato V. Fetalino, HP, chairman of Romblon Ecumenical Forum Against Mining (REFAM) said that human beings are called to be stewards of the earth, and as such, should not abuse it.
