Quezon City - It is with deep sadness that Alyansa Tigil Mina receives the news that Bp Dinualdo Guttierez from the Diocese of Marbel, South Cotabato, has joined his Creator, yesterday Feb. 10, 2019

We will miss the sober guidance and joyful inspiration that Bishop DD has extended to us while championing environmental awareness and protecting the integrity of creation.

It was Bp. DD who popularized the focus of the environmental struggle in South Cotabato- the fight against the “Unholy Trinity” of the Tampakan Gold Mining Project, the coal fired power plants and several coal mining projects.

Our alliance will never forget the many times Bp. DD has personally led creative actions and even street marches to highlight the peoples’ issue.

Bp. Gutierrez has joined our Creator. We are sure he is in a better place. And may he continue to inspire and guide all those who are defending Mother Earth.
