ATM message for Walk for Clean Air

ATM joins No Burn Pilipinas and Ecowaste Coalition in demanding action for Clean Air. Mining-affected communities are direct victims of air pollution as open-pit mining produces dust and air pollution that blankets houses and rice fields and contaminated rivers and irrigation systems. We have witnessed these in Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Palawan, Masbate, Surigao Del Sur and Agusan Del Norte. We also stand in solidarity with the victims of the mine disaster in Brazil who were swept by mud slides and toxic wastes when the mine tailings dam collapsed in Brumandhino, Minas Geiras, Brazil. We hope that this disaster does not happen here in the Philippines. We believe that this kinds of disasters can be prevented if the DENR can disclose publicly all the documents related to the Mine Audits and the Mine Reviews completes by DENR. We also demand that Mines ordered

Closed or suspended should be immediately enforced. Finally, we demand that the Duterte administration immediately issue its Executive Order to ban open-pit mining.
