ATM Reaction to Archiving of Duterte’s Impeachment Case

Alyansa Tigil Mina (ATM) expressed deep dismay at the Senate vote to archive the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

“The Senate decision amounts to a total failure to uphold their independence and deliver on their mandate to try impeached government officials. We are witnessing today the implementation of a distorted form of justice, where the rich and powerful are allowed to continue their abuse of power. Instead of heeding the people’s overwhelming sentiment for a Senate trial and conduct a transparent process, the Senate unashamedly turned its back on its duties,” said Jaybee Garganera, ATM National Coordinator.

“We stand with all Filipinos who demand accountability from our elected leaders to serve the interests of the people, and not the political ambitions of dynasties and elites,” he concluded.
