ATM's Reaction on the DENR's Environmental Award Given to Cynthia Villar

"Assuming the award is about cleaning esteros within NCR, this award to Sen. Cynthia Villar is a very good example of the myopic view of the DENR in performing its tasks and responsibilities. Looking at the bigger picture, Senator Cynthia Villar is undeserving of the plaque of recognition as Environmental Champion awarded to her by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
As Chair of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Sen. Villar has failed to act on at least three proposed measures that seek to protect the country’s natural resources. These are the National Land Use Act (NLUA), the Sustainable Forest Management Act (SFMA) and the Alternative Minerals Management Act (AMMA).
These are critical bills badly needed by the country and yet are languishing in the Senate Committee under her leadership. Given such circumstances, it is a shame that the DENR considers Villar as an Environmental Champion. She is not worthy of the recognition." #IbotoMakakalikasangKandidato
